The DAF XG catalytic converter, part number 2335671, equipped with a DPF/DOC filter, is manufactured in the UK and is based on the same design used in the DAF XF 106. In practice, however, the SCR core problem still remains unresolved.
Just like in the popular DAF XF 106 Euro 6 models, many operators continue to report the same failures. Despite the introduction of the new DPF and DOC filters, the SCR section has not been redesigned to eliminate issues during normal operation.
When the SCR core begins to move or slide out of position, it can damage the catalytic converter and trigger exhaust aftertreatment system fault codes. For this reason, every repair should include not only an inspection of the DPF and DOC filters, but also a thorough check of the SCR core mounting, as the cores frequently become loose and slide out of the housing.
